If two ppl are together and then break up…are you allowed to continue to use the things they have given you? or No?
I mean expensive things that are very helpful and the other does not want them back and it will just go to waste, sitting in box somewhere, no?
I would return all the items, but that is just my personal opinion. I would want nothing of theirs especially if the other person is the one who ended things. This can include things like expensive jewelry or simple things like photos. Give it allllllll back .... then again, that's just me.

ditto!
Either return them and if s/he doesn't accept them then dump 'em into the nearest garbage can!
part of the problem is...dont know where the other person lives anymore...has moved since break up...and what if i ended things?
i did put everything away in a box for a long time...but then had to take the "palm pilot" out and use it...now i use it every day...gotten used to it...too expensive to replace or just throw away.
hence, the torture of not knowing if to continue using it or not?
Well, self-respect would make me want to return those things...On the other hand if the items are nice...Well...Keep em...They were for you anyways, right?
hehe …Mehnaz u made m,e remember my younger sis …everytime she had a fight with any of us …we recieved all gifts etc. given to her back …n it was not once in a blue moon …we used to enjoy it almost every 2-3 days

The reasons things would be returned in the first place is because there is a sentimental attachment to the item itself. It could be jewelry given on Valentine's day or a birthday present. If it was something perceived to be given from the heart ..... and then if the other person ditches you .... the things would be returned to the other person or thrown away. It has to do with emotions for some people .... It can be painful to look at those things cause they can be a reminder. Follow?
However, in your case ..... it doesn't seem like there is any sentimental attachment to the palm pilot. If you are a guy, it is MUCH easier to just let go of the thoughts I was going on about and just use the items. :)

that is so sweet of your sis
and back to topic i dont know coz i myself have never been in such situation eigther so what can i say …but i know some of my aunts who always return gifts in the case of miss understanding n fights , i think it is kiddish !!
hmmm i think u should keep them... the thing is.. just cus a relationship ends.. doesnt mean u end all ties... i mean think of it this way... nothing can erase the feelings u had for them.. or have for them.. the moments spent together will never fade...
the objects given to each other during the time of the relationship.. be it necklaces.. rings.. or palm pilots.. they are just mere reminders of the good moments together... the memories exist inside us.. nothing can make em go away..
just keep the stuff... it wouldnt make a difference if u threw them away... i personally think its kinda insulting having them given back or thrown in the bin..
p.s i once sent a book of my poems to this guy... he laffed at it.. and said if he could give it back.. cus he didnt understand poetry... laterz like after a year when i asked for it... he refused.. and said he's gonna keep it... and had been reading the stuff i'd written... and it made sense to him :) .. imagine of he'd given it back.. he would never have understood... aaaah life
