How can I find out if a company providing online consulting services (in any domain) to its users is a legally registered company and keeping its books according to the law? Thanks.

ask them, they will provide you with all the info you need, write them a letter or fax and ask for the info you need.

^ exactly or check their website. usually companies have information regarding their auditors and stuff on their websites.
