Does any one know why some series have two years mentioned in them, i.e. 1998/99, or 2003/04, even though the serious was played in one calendar year? It would make sense to me if a series started in December and ended in January of next year; however, many series were played in one calender year, but still mention two years. Does anyone one know why?
Re: Question
Cricket is historically identified as part of a season. From a British season, standpoint, that is either winter or summer. Anything played from Sep to March will be identified as part of winter season and will have both years mentioned. Generally, if there is only one year mentioned, it is likely to be a series in the summers.
