say someones remarried for the 2nd time without having divorced the first, what are the firstwife’s rights legally? Apar from doing the obvious thingof getting divorced.
Re: question
depends on local laws...what region are we in, carmen sandiego?
if it's in Pakistan, I would advise the first wife to go for the free biryani offered at baraat. because local laws would give her just that and may be a divorce letter if she asks for it.
if it's USA (ala UTAH), she can take the hubby to the cleaners and then have an extravagant after-divorce party and order all the biryani she wants.

Re: question
on what account, just bigamy?
Re: question
what's bigamy?. is it about having desires for a 'bigger one for me'?
Re: question
see ok most european states would classify such remarriage as bigamy. but what about your religion, i mean wouldnt that play up big time against you since it allows multiple marriages?
Re: question
In the UK it depends upon what kind of marriage ceremony took place, for example if somebody has had a a civil ceremony for the first marriage and an Islamic Nikah for the second its not usually considered bigamy.
Re: question
In the US, if anyone marries without getting a divorce it is bigamy and if the first spouse wishes to, they can press charges because it is illegal. Usually they don't, they opt for civil court and wipe the other out.
Re: question
The crime of bigamy only happens if you undertake multiple state-recognised marriages at the same time.
An Islamic marriage is not recognised by the state since it is not registered with any government authorities.
