question

lemme put a disclaimer before i start my question: this thread is only to answer a question i have. i dont intend to insult anyone or any religion.

ok here goes, consider this hypothetical scenario: lets say this muslim dude is stuck on a strange island where the only food available is pork. no plants or any other animals. now is he allowed to eat pork for the sake of survival?

Re: question

From my (limited) understanding of the deen, it is imperative to preserve life.

There is something known as "necessity" and if your life depends on it then you are allowed to do something that is normally forbidden.

Re: question

so is this concession allowed only in extreme circumstances? what if say he had to travel at least 100 miles to get halal food, wud it still apply?

Re: question

yes. so are u planning to get stuck in an island full of bacon n pork?

Re: question

Here is the Quranic point of view on this matter. May this help. Aameen

:bism:
2:173 He:swt: hath only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of Allah. But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then is he guiltless. For Allah is Oft-forgiving Most Merciful.
(Al Baqarah)

6:145 Say: “I find not in the message received by me by inspiration any (meat) forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be dead meat, or blood poured forth, or the flesh of swine,- for it is an abomination - or, what is impious, (meat) on which a name has been invoked, other than Allah’s”. But (even so), if a person is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- thy Lord is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
(Al An’am)

16:115 He has only** forbidden** you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and any (food) over which the name of other than Allah has been invoked. But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
(An-Nah’l)

Re: question

Jazakallah Khair Mr Qureshi.

Thanks for the evidence - much appreciated.

Re: question

thanks everyone for the clarification.. muchos gracias

Re: question

if u cant find any thing to eat, u can eat haraam....

doesnt mean that if halaal meat is not available u can eat haraam....
there r other things u can live on besides the meat....

Re: question

I would think a more likely scenario would be if some bullies had a gun to your head and were sneering "comon little muslim, eat the piggy, eat the piggy!"

Re: question

i`d still find it extremely difficult to eat the piggy, weather i was dying or not. Though ive known muslims who have no qualms about eating it.

Re: question

desibanda, where you get idea of cheap questions. do one thing, get on a boat, go to some far noman rock in sea, releas your boat, sit and examine your ideas.

Re: question

Does anyone know the two basic reasons why pigs are haraam

Re: question

One is enough. Because, Allah says so.

Re: question

:flower1: just trying to spread education

Re: question

pigs r not haraam, eating pork is haraam :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: question

ok lemme rephrase, that pigs, pork, bacon, ham…all of it is haraam

Re: question

This majlis I was listening to the Molvi said "When a question like why eating pork is haram is asked. The very first answer should be that because Allah said so, he's my creator and he knows me best. Knows what good for me and knows what's not good for me. After that, then you could bring up other reasons. (Pigs are filthy and other findings on them etc.) BTW, the internal organs of pigs resemble humans so much - there talks of heart transplant and kidney transplant. I guess as science advances, things would become more clear.

Re: question

^^ Did u know their skin is also used in the making of football.

They are haraam, coz they eat almost every **** that is fed to them. Plus they have no respect to who they are having sex with male/female

Re: question

isn’t it called modernism in humanity too? :hehe:

Re: question

i can understand that street pigs are dirty creatures and must be avoided but what about those raised in clean farms where there is no gunjaish of them fooling around in muck. besides they dont get to have much sex unless the factory wants more pigs.
