As a rule of sociology, when a sub-culture is created with the intention of influencing its philosophy and behaviour on the main culture to attain a foundation that assists in bringing about a social revolution, the sub-culture must always have a unique identity and must keep itself distinct and seperate from the main culture.
Uniformity is communism, it is not Islam. Philosophies ripen and mature quicker when they're tested and opposed. The presence of different sects and their competition to achieve a social and philosophical eminence will bring out the best of Islam.

Dont read, just think.
See, lets say for example, with your progressive and tolerant views, you and your friends decide to get together as a group and try to promote your views to preach tolerance to the rest of the people. Then if someone tells you to leave that group and go sit with the molvis in the name of unity, will you do that? No, you'd rather want them to leave their views and sit with you! That way unity will sound cool.

but u see i wouldnt want either... i wouldnt want to form a group and go preach to someone what i think is right... i believe Islam is different to each individual... and therefore i dont want to impose my views on another..
but i do like knowing that someone does agree with me... even if its only 5%

Well that opinion itself makes you different from other people who do not agree to it, and you would not leave this opinion and this way of life in the name of unity.
