Re: Question to those in West with Pakistani roots.

my drawing room is an homage to pakistani crafts. there is this sheesha work quilt in there, a table from chiniot, a rug from i dunno somewhere made in pakistan, a metal work jharoka with mirror, a fancy shmancy vase, and various other nick knacks we collected from there. my room has a few other things too, the ones i can remember off the top of my head are a few jewellery pieces, a wind chime and this weird wall hangy thingy. my bro had the pakistani cricket team uniform tacked up to his wall :cb:

Re: Question to those in West with Pakistani roots.

^ aww:D

Nice. :k:
That is what I am talking about.

Same here Khumar!!!

Our 3rd living room has a Pakistani theme to it. Wall hangings, Wooden furniture from Pak, Jarohkay, Mirrored vases, silk pillows, rugs ( i even got a deer sking from Pak!) … and lots of other little tidbits including many heirlooms…we even had a really cool day bed imported recently.. it’s so beautiful!!! And it’s all rich bright colours everywhere…

Whenever i sit in this room i always shed a tear… cos i remember having such wonderful times when i travelled to Pak… and it brings back memories of the stories my grandparents/ greatgrandparents used to tell me of what Pak was like in ‘those days’, the war etc… always makes me teary of the trials and tribulations they faced…

I demanded we had a pakistani themed room in our house, as our house was designed by my MIL, and as she’s french, it’s all like french boudoir-ey styled… so i had to have one room that reflected my heritage… and i’m so proud of it

Re: Question to those in West with Pakistani roots.

awww! that sounds so lovely maroush! i know the feeling, whenever i walk into the room alll these memories just rush back. for us it was just coincidence that the room turned that way, but i have to say, it's my fav room in the house! :D
