Is it necessary for the in laws to live in the same house, in order to make your life hell? or can they destroy peace of your mind even living away?

Lol. My mom lived away from her in laws and yet they had issues with her. If in laws wanna make life hell, they'll do it whether you live with them or not. They find ways... I guess

Not all in laws are awful people. It is not right of us to generalize. I know plenty of people living with in laws, some are living very happy, some girls need to live with in laws as they are disasters on their own, some just can't get over the negativity to see the good side of the people living with them. Yes, there are in laws who have made life miserable for the girls.
My advice will be to think positive, treat others with respect, handle the situation keeping your emotions on the side.

Depends on the inlaws. I lived with them and now live away and they still find ways to make my life hectic. In through one ear out the other
