i read in a book recently that said something like: respect for elders is diminishing worldwide.
is it true? it didn’t present it as a bad idea, just a change…
thoughts?

Re: question
well ..it shudnt ....i knw i dnt disrespect my inlaws or parents...bu i would say it is sumthin lacking nowa days
Re: question-respect
yes the idea of respecting ur elders is lacking.
Re: question-respect
so why?
was it always over-done? just because someone is older they are automatically better, wiser, logical? it may be the case not always. ageism?
Re: question-respect
yeah it was over done :@:
Re: question-respect
elders shouldnt demand that because they are older it is their right. that change is needed. having said that, i respect so many people who are older than me for their wisdom and courtesy and goodness, which i guess is what elders are supposed to embody, but not always the case. u cant let people make your decisions because they are older.

Re: question-respect
sadly, it is true. not only young people are losing respect for elders, the young peers are even more of an egging on influence. and thus most every adolescent or young adult feels it is their right to be rude, obscene and insensitive to having disrespected anyone older.
partly, it has to do with how rude people become rude, because of utter lack of role models and wrong brought up style where there is no check on a child's or adolescent's attitude and behavioral interactions with other people.
this disreputes the family the rude young person belongs to and the person's own self is disreputed his or her actions.
nothing can change rudeness, except the person's own full realization that he/she must be sorry for the way they have been acting and correct their rude behaviors from that point in time, onwards.
Re: question-respect
That is absurd!!!
Its just that the elders are a nuisance.
