Question regarding wudu or ablution

AA, I was told that passing water through my body once is mandatory during ablution and passing it three times is sunnat.

Needless to say there is no point in passing water the fourth time. However, I was told that fourth time is considered waste. Can anyone confirm that for me please?

Re: Question regarding wudu or ablution

^ True, the fourth time is only encouraged when one is not sure if the water reached the places where it was supposed to reach in those one/three times (to properly wet all the necessary areas) because at times people do it in a hurry and even after doing it three times some areas are still dry. e.g. the elbow is not properly washed and some part of it is still dry, same goes for ankles...etc.

Still better to consult a scholar if possible, as I might not remember 100% what I learned and there might be mistakes. I would also confirm inshaAllah (there is additional sawab of asking a mas'ala from an Aalim). Allah knows best!

Shukran jazilan. I will follow up as well. Jazakallah khair.

Re: Question regarding wudu or ablution

Peace Qaidabad,

In addition to R.A.W.'s comments, pouring water thrice is to be sure that there is no part of body is left dry. You can do it wudu by pouring water once and/or thrice subjected not to left dry mandatory part of a body.

Re: Question regarding wudu or ablution

With clean and pure water becoming a scarce , it is wastage to run it even two times, assuming you are a friend of environment and do not waste any other thing and make a conscious effort to not cause any waste . Try to make it perfect run the first time and you are good to go.
