I am currently in my 7th month and I have these INSANE sugar cravings. I was never really a chocaholic and I gave up coffee 2 years ago and switched to herbal teas and then gave those up too. So my point, that all during my pregnancy I haven’t had no tea/ coffee/ chocs (except perhaps one /2 occassional bites in a rare month). But, I aint so saint either. I would sometimes hav a few spoonfuls of ice cream or w/e dessert we had on hand after dinner.
I have my bloodsugar test next week and I can’t seem to control my craving. Recently it just so happened that I gave in and had a tims doubledouble… Now, I feel like I just have to have it everyday. But I want to be a good mom so we didn’t buy any coffee, as in theres none at home so atleast I can’t do anything abt my craving while at home.
For the sugar thing, I feel like eating yoghurt with a good dollop of honey (and some sprinkling of sugar) on it ALL the time…
What can I do to control myself? And how much is too much? Say if I had a med coffee today, when can I have it again? Or if I have tea (caffienated) like usual yellowlabel chai, or earl gray or smthng, how often can I drink it? Ive asked my OB a zillion times but she’s this reallllllllll sweet lady who keeps on scaring me and telling me that if it starts with a C (caffiene.. etc), it ends with a C (c-section) so I should just try to eliminate it…

i think mine sugar intake will be much much much higher than yours i think you have hardly any if you dont drink coffe and tea and have hardly any chocolate, i eat 1 chocolate bar 3 times a week, or ice cream after dinner, or drink coke now n then n tea near enough everyday, so i think i need to be worried and i am now after reading your i think i shud just give up everything now Im 4 months pregnant ;(

you can have 2 small cups of coffee everyday without harming the child and nothing wrong with some sugar intake once in a while, to satisfiy your carvings.

Well from what I know, it is safe to have 1 cup of tea/coffee/soda a day...only one of any of them. I thought coffee is stronger than tea so it should just be 1 cup? Better to be safe i guess. Funny I normally loved chocolate, but developed an aversion to it during pregnancy, kinda grosses me out if I eat it. Everything in moderation. If you are really craving the coffee, have it but get a small size, and perhaps not drink all of it, just some of it to get the taste and over your craving and be good the rest of the day.

sigh.. yeah I think I'll just go have some cold watermelon right now.. hmm and once a day. Well that's kinda hard, I will strive to just not let myself taste coffee for a while. Let's see..
its not right to scare 1st-time moms by giving such false assumptions...i dont believe this crap...
coffee is naturally rich in antioxidants and they are very important for ur body to fight with the toxins in ur body...yeah have each and everything bcz at this stage ur baby is also tasting ...nothing bad if u r taking it in moderation!
