Question on wedding ?!

 I was wondering…How many dresses really a bride wears for all her wedding cerimonies?? And the footware? The colors of dresses got any meaning? Before it was used to wear some colors for each cerimony, like “yellow” for nikka…and nowadays?

Re: Question on wedding ?!

At the very least there are two outfits, for the rukhsati and the valima.. then if you have a mehndi, mayyoun, and if the nikkah is on a different day than the rukhsati/barat function, and I think there's one more function after the valima, a muklava..i never really heard it here on GS so I' dunno if its very common or what..and then the morning after the rukhsati, the grlz family comes to give her breakfast (nashta-dayna)..so it can be anywhere from 2 to 7...

As for footwear, a bride can wear hte same pair every single function if she chooses to, but most grlz like to have htier shoes match their dresses, and if you're in Pakistan that's very easy to do. Traditionally red is the color for brides, and yellow for mehndi/mayyoun but i'm not positive about the actual reasons for that color. Nowadays red isn't necessary for the barat but the general rule is darker colors for rukhsati and lighter colors for valima. But in the end it does boil down to what you prefer :)

Re: Question on wedding ?!

Yeah why do brides have to wear yellow on their mehndi...I gotta say I went to a recent wedding and the Bride work a light green heavy combo shalwar outfit for her mehndi and it was hawwwttttt, straight out of lahore.....and the groom had on a skin/tan color outfit, they looked cute together. Im for trying new colors on wedding day. I wanted a non-red color for my wedding, but family "talked me into" a red shade.
