Okay so this may seem like a stupid question but please humour me.
But I wanted to know are all the jewellery you see on the current brides real gold. Like all the sets are massive and so I wanted to know are they wearing real gold white gold or whatever. I know it is easier to tell with the smaller diamond necklaces, but the massive necklaces and jhoomars and what not has got me wondering is that all real? lol
I planned on wearing fake jewelry that matched with my dress, but the in-laws said their brides don't wear fake stuff. They insisted I wear the set they gave me. That's what I did, but the set wasn't massive like you see on many brides.
Also, when it was my time to choose jewelry for myself, my mum wouldn't let me pick anything with stones in it no matter how stunning it looked! Reason being: no resale value of the stones attached to it.
Noor321, I too was thinking the same. Especially now days there is this trend of double necklaces (chokar plus long one) cause clearly 1 was just not enough along with those extra long earrings, jhoomer maan tikka etc.. but hey no denying people look breath taking.
All the sets are so matching especially with the bangles tikka etc that I dont know. like gupper.shupper when i suggested my mother in law shot down the idea super fast i was instead told i would have to wear family jewels (even though she said ill have to return half of them back they were just to show on teh wedding day.) :)
the funniest incident was when i was surfing the irhan ahson photography page. there was a picture of all the young girls along with the bride and somone posted guess who the bride is....lol everyone was so decked up that the only difference was the bride had a duppatta. ....rofl.
Some pieces you can tell are fake ...but then again with others who knows...not that you can walk up to a bride and ask....lol
Nowadays the fashion is artificial sets which look real. People tend to go for artificial as it's easier and you don't have to worry about the keeping gold in your house etc etc. For the most part, they're chandi or gold plated. I just had my jewellery made in Pakistan and my set is gold, but you can choose pieces which you want made artificial. For example - my jhoomar and ring are artificial (gold plated) but the rest of the set is real gold. No one is able to tell. My walima set is only plated but I had it made from a jeweller who sells real gold. It's the same design and looks exactly like the real set.
^ Yeah same. I always loved huge gold sets with stones ( ). For my wedding, mine was all gold but with beads and lacquer. The choker, necklace, earrings, ring and tikka were all gold but the nath, jhumar, and pajangla were artificial to match the set
Yeh lately I’ve been seeing all the brides wearing a chokker and then another neck piece and everything is matching the jhoomar, nath everything so I always wondered lol.
im currently shopping around for jewellery myself. One question, should I wait till I get my wedding dress to start buying the jewellery or should I just go for basic golds and reds and colors which will go with any colored jora?
Also, since I dont live in Pak, anyone suggest any good retailers/ home based busness who would help me in supplying me with designs i want made?
Yes dear, if you will visit the trustworthy stores then you will definitely get diamond jewellery. By checking the IGI or DGLA standard mark, it becomes easy to predict that whether the diamond jewellery is real or not
And another tip: Try to buy gold sets you will actually wear. Yea, it is probably great to show off those huge sets that come down all the way to your bellybutton with those bangles, jhoomars and teekas . You can’t wear them without looking odd They will just be there to pay zakat on. Better to buy lighter sets you can actually wear every now and then.
I think it is probably fake but I can never tell.
I wanted to wear a fake set (choker and the three strands thing) but both in my family and in laws - we cannot wear anything thats fake.
