This may be a basic question, but I really need help. I am hosting a ladies luncheon at my house next month and want to set up a tea station so ladies can help themselves to readymade hot tea and add their own cream and sugar.
I’ve seen people use Coffee Urns which looks very nice. The problem is, I’ve called a couple manufacturers (Hamilton Beach and West Bend) and was told they only recommend using coffee or hot water, not tea bags or loose tea!
I don’t understand why we can’t use tea! If anyone has experience in this matter, please give me some advice. If I want to make 30 cups of tea, would I put in 30 teabags and let it steep for a bit until the color is right and then take out the bags?
I have seen this used to hold tea for large gatherings quite a few times. One of the reviewers on the link you posted also said they use one for tea and one for coffee. I would say go for it.
simply for one reason, Since the tap is in the bottom (as it should be) and if you are using loose tea leaves, it can’t filter those leaves out. If you use tea bags, they will simply sit in the bottom and may disrupt flow. :chai:
taking out the tea bags would be a better option.
My mother does use them for tea. The only thing is that it can get very strong, so you have to keep an eye on that. How many people are coming? If it's not too many, I would recommend brewing the tea in a few pretty tea pots, and having some additional hot water available for alternative teas.
