Question for UK guppies

Asalam O Alaikum,

Have few questions:

First one, is there any way to check/confirm a UK national’s marital status? i.e. Any site that can pull out such basic info if you put that person’s citizenship number? Or any other way that you can suggest, would be appreciated.

2nd question: If a UK national was legally divorced once as per UK law/thru court etc, can he still keep the marraige certificate with him? Or is that taken back by the officials? What happens to this marraige proof after a couple gets divorce thru court?

3rd question: If a UK national muslim couple was legally divorced as per UK law, and they wanted to get back together after like 2-3 yrs, they consulted a local molvi in UK who suggested that they can still reunite as the divorce on papers will be considered as one divorce as per Islam so they can live together as husband wife again after doing a re-nikah. I am not sure how correct the Molvi told them but lets assume that this way of reuniting husband wife was correct, how does UK law looks at such reunion? Does the couple has to re-register their remarraige to make it legal? and What if they do not re-rigester it and keeps living as husband and wife in UK?

any help to answer above will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Question for UK guppies

You could try searching on 192.com or try thelocal council for marriage records.

And since they got divorced by UK law, they would have to get re-registered to make it legal UK wise. Otherwise their marital status would be single.

Re: Question for UK guppies

Thank you so much Uzzy. I checked 192.com and it asks for some payment. But thats fine its not much. Can i trust the site?

I understand their status will be single if they do not register their marriage again, but as per UK law, can a husband wife re-marry? if they can, then why one won’t want to re-rigester it on records? strange. If they do not re-register and remain single on the record, but actually living a husband wife life, what can be consequences? what if they have a baby in future? how will they handle that situation? :expressionless:
