hey ladies…how many months/weeks after childbirth did you get your first period? what is heavy/light/normal as compared to before? did it decrease your milk supply? is getting your period a sign that your milk supply is diminishing? does the baby notice a difference/change in the milk during the time of the month?

I had my first period 10 months post partum while breastfeeding. I dont think it affected my supply at all, i went on to breastfeed for another 8 months or so before i stopped.

I had mine within a month after I stopped breastfeeding,that was about 6 months postpartum.They were regular for 2 months then went all whacky…my gynecologist said it happened sometimes…she prescribed the OCPs to regulate the cycles.

I got mine the very next month postpartum.. and I was breastfeeding.

I am breastfeeding and it started just now … 3 months after the baby is born.

Hey, many many Congratluations!
I had my period three months after birth. It did decrease my milk supply, I knew because I was exclusively expressing. But the baby does not taste any difference. As I was expressing, I found that a week before starting my period my milk supply increased, so I kept bottles and bottles of it in the fridge. It keeps for 4 days!
I exclusively breastfed/expressfed for 6 months. Hard work but alhamdullilah well worth it.

Question for Mums re: menses returning after childbirth.
My baby is 8 months old and my periods haven’t returned. Am a little worried. I’m still breast feeding little one which could be the main reason.
For those who breast-fed when did you get your menses back after childbirth? I don’t know anyone whose gone without them longer than me.

I didn’t get any period until I started weaning them like only nursing at night that’s when I started spotting and got my periods after I stopped nursing completely.

^ I think it means they suckle less on you, for comfort and such, probably leading to less production and all that.

This is a sexist thread. Just because we men don’t have menses doesn’t mean we can’t reflect upon them. As a matter of fact we should probably the first to speak on it. 'cause we are gonna be short and straight to the point.
