Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

Re: Pehla Pehla Pyar - Questions for M. Lucman

Harris I should answer your question seperately. Yes this is a commercial film but it has a very strong story line deep rooted into our society. This is not really the story of a boy following a girl but a girl burdened with the responsibility of being the savior of her family and domestic abuse. The story has a strong moral backdrop..infact two of them..A- Do not do to others what you will not be able to handle for yourself. B- A woman will tolerate anything from a man she loves and admires but she will not tolerate another woman even if means sacrificing everything she has.

If you know I have done a lot of work for television and my last film was actually a short film about Mullah Umer and the Talibaan. I went to Afghanistan to shoot it just before the war. It became a big hit and was shown in the UK by ARY digital. After that I came under a lot of pressure (Understandably) but then I decided to make a commercial film. I honestly feel that a good commercial film is and in the real sense a piece of art. TAke for instance Titanic, or Lord Of The Rings etc. They are commercially dynamite yet evry artistic in their making. Yes I would like to make films on more serious subjects as well, like domestic violence, gays, other artistically charged subjects but admit I am mostly driven by relationships subjects and they make me think a lot more than any other.

There are two major subjects that we are considering right now. One is a love story with a strong patriotic backdrop and the other is a story of a man who wants to make sure that the world can respect the woman he loves. (She is a hooker in her previous profession). I dont know if any of them will make it on the screen or not but we are working on them. Then there is this subject which is very commercial and has the backdrop of showbusiness or films in it.

Epics or historicals are absolutely divine but lets face it they require details and budetary allocations that we cant afford at the moment. Maybe if a Hollywood studio will back us then I would like to attempt a try on my hero and ideal Sher Shah Suri....I hope I have answered your questions to your satisfaction sir.
