Hi Bhai log
i have a question regarding a tradition in islam,
men in islam remove their foreskin of their pen*s, what is the name of that ceremony and if a adult person converts to islam , do he need to do that ceremony also

Circumcision

Its not a ceremony dude! Its a surgical operation, and its not only done by Muslims but Jews as well (Jews have a ceremony called brismillah, I think). Its also very common in the Americas and East-Asia.
And, as far as I know, its not a must in Islam, though it is highly recommended. There is no mention of it in the Quran - only in Hadith.

urdu translation for that is 'khatna'.i had it done when i was 6 it hurt like hell.i had a hindu friend who converted to islam and had it done when he was 20,it was very painful for him especially in the mornings because of errections.lol

as i know it's a sunnah for male born childs , the only logic significance of cicumcision is that it reduces the risk of penile carcinoma ( cancer) which constitutes 20% of commonly occuring cancers in males ( mostly in southern america & africa) at ages btw 40 to 70 years of age , so not sure about adult converts that they should do it or not but heard that now adult non-muslim men r going for circumcision to avoid getting infected by this cancer as it's even spread by HPV (human papilloma virus) a common source of STDs ( sexually transmitted diseases) which is pretty common worldwide.

Thats correct Lajawab - circumcision is not a fardh, but either wajib or Sunnah Mu’akkida. Muslim scholars differ in regards to getting an adult male circumcised. Some say it should be done, others say it shouldn’t.

Most ulema consider it not obligatory on adult reverts.

that was the only way to distinguish a hindu from a muslim during riots in 1947. Again, it is the only way in India during riots to find who is actually a muslim and not lying to be a Hindu. Afridi786 and ParisTonNoor, Christians are NOT supposed to do it.. its only mentioned in the old testament..exclusively for Jews.. pre-world war II americans thought it was idiotic but after world war II it became popular cuz it started a thing for hygenic purposes.
