Question for ladies

Serious question and serious replies only please.

I heard from someone that it’s safe to have unprotected sex up to three days before and after your wife’s period if you don’t want her to get pregnant. Is this true? Is the time period accurate or is it different for every girl?

under pressure

Re: Question for ladies

:hmmm: i have heard that its ok before but not aftr as a woman ovulates in the 14 days aftr her period, but y risk it tell her to get a coil or ITU or smething

Re: Question for ladies

Qurstion:what was the point of this thread? u could of googled the question. or better still ask your doctor!

Re: Question for ladies

No, it's not true. Not every woman ovulates at the same time and some women ovulate at unpredictible times during their cycles.

By the way, this is called the "rhythm" method. It may reduce the probability of conceiving, but it is not very effective. Also remember that sperm can live for 3 days in the womb.

I agree

what is the point of this forum then?im sure its here to raise questions n get everyones different opinion. there are sme things which sme ppl wont ask their dctr becoz they find it embarrassing

true, i didnt think of that

Re: Question for ladies

Eggs are typically ready to be fertilized 14 days after the start of menses but this can vary greatly from person to person! If you prefer unprotected sex though, you can purchase an over the counter ovulation predictor test. It detects a surge in hormone that happens just before the ripe egg is released so you can plan accordingly.

everyone elses opinion? more like everone's experience. im sorry this question is too personal.

Re: Question for ladies

My doctor told me you can start ovulating even by the ninth day of your cycle, which could be like 2-3 days after your period ends. So unless you are willing to take that risk, be sure to use some method of BC all the time until you are ready to conceive

Re: Question for ladies

Why not just get an IUD?

Nothing is safe. Like others mentioned, every lady has a different ovulation cycle. There are broad ranges but I have heard of accidents happening during so called "safe" periods.

If you really want to figure it out, get an ovulation kit and follow the instructions for a couple of months then you could find out what the range is for that particular person.

Most IUDs arent really recommended for women who have not yet had their first child.

Re: Question for ladies

thats not true the woman can still get pregnant, its different for every person though

Re: Question for ladies

I highly recommend you and your spouse take a look at the book called Taking Charge of Your Ferility by Toni Weschler. It has info about this as well as other things related to a woman's cycle.

Re: Question for ladies

I agree with colorful, this is not a 'relationship' question its a medical one. I dont' think the purpose of this forum is to dish out medical advice.

Thanks! I had no idea!
