question about walima.

I was wondering if its possible to have a walima in a restaurant rather than a hotel?

Hotels are rather expensive and i think restaurants might be a good option for such an occasion.Did anyone had an experiance of attending a walima on such a small scale?

Your opinion please?

Re: question about walima.

I don't think it will be posible to have walima in a resturant. Obviously it depends on the resturant and number of guests u r gonna invite but i have never seen a walima in a resturant.

Re: question about walima.

I have been to a walima in a resturant - but it was really small there was about 30 of us in total. Resturants are not necessarily cheaper than hotels - depends on what you want.

I had my valima in a restaurant, but that was in the party room downstairs and it accommodated 100 people so it wasnt that small. But if the restaurant has another room then it should be fine.

Re: question about walima.

Yes, mine was in a restaurant and it was lovely. But I had already had the wedding in Pak and the reception in the US plus lots of dholkis and such, and my valima was a long time after the wedding (travel issues), so I didn't mind a small reception with family and close friends. For some brides, they may not like it.

Re: question about walima.

a friends valima was in a restaurant party room...
so, yes, i suppose it is done

Re: question about walima.

Of course its possible, but it might depend on how many people will be at your walima. If there are like 300 people it might be difficult to find a restaurant that big and it might be quite expensive. But if theres like 100 people or less than it can be done. Ive been to a restaurant walima, was very nice

It would be on small scale as only two of my family members will be able to travel with me to Pakistan, so i think total no of guest would be around 100.I'm hoping to find a suitable restaurant for such an occasion in Lahore
