Question about Traditional Ghararas

How long is the shirt supposed to be? Is it supposed to be long enough to cover your behind? Is it supposed to be only 2 or 3 inches above where the pleats start (which I guess is mid-thigh)? Or is it supposed to be shorter like normal tops that come with lenghas?

I am having a brain fart.

Re: Question about Traditional Ghararas

they're meant to be 2-3" above where the gheyr starts, i believe. so yeah, mid-thigh. i think in a farshi gharara, the shirt can be longer than that if you prefer, since the "gote" is much lower. but not too much longer.

Re: Question about Traditional Ghararas

Yup, mid-thigh

Re: Question about Traditional Ghararas

sgc is right, shirt length should be little higher than point from where pleats start , looks neat
in ordinary gharara , pleats hit above knees , so have shirt around mid thigh length
in farshi gharara , pleasts hit below knees , so go for longer shirt

but also search for latest trends before going for one

Re: Question about Traditional Ghararas

does anyone have a pic of a farsi gharrra?

Re: Question about Traditional Ghararas

i have a nicer one at work that i’ll post tomorrow.

Re: Question about Traditional Ghararas

all the pics of the ghararas i’ev seen are mid-thigh..

Re: Question about Traditional Ghararas

In traditional ghararas the shirts were a lot shorter. They just barely covered your behind. These were considered a bit risque because if/when you bent over, it would lift up and expose....but then again, grace demanded that you just don't bend over like that and squat instead.

Re: Question about Traditional Ghararas

here’s the very nice farshi i was speaking about posting a pic of earlier… i so love this outfit…

Re: Question about Traditional Ghararas

^^^ omg thats beautiful!!! thats what I was looking for thanx! :D

Re: Question about Traditional Ghararas

i agree..mid thigh is fine..but depends on the girl....if shes slim and younger she can get away w. it shorter but its shes bigger...then yeah go long ...sorry it just doenst look right.

Re: Question about Traditional Ghararas

That’s true…but old fashioned farshi payjamas were cut with enough gher that it really didnt matter that the shirts were so short. They were probably even a lot looser and showed less shape than what people wear as lehengas today.
