My aunt arrived in US from Pakistan today but her passport was not stapled with I-94 that usually is done at the immigration counter. She says she filled both customs and I-94 forms and gave to immigration officer. Her passport is stamped with admittance stamp with no specification of period of stay. I did some googling and found out that you can file form I-102 to get a replaced and incorrect of a new card - there is no fee if correction is because of an error made by immigration officer.
My question is, has this happened to anyone else here? What are the consequences of not having I-94? Do they sometime NOT give I-94 or this is simply a case of forgetfulness on immigration officer’s part? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Re: Question about immigration departure record I-94
Im not sure but I know someone who lost his i94 card, and it took him forever to get a new one... this was back in 2002.. your aunt will need to surrender the card when she goes back so not sure how it will go... since its their mistake, they better fix it fast
