Question about dyeing a completed outfit

Salam all,

I have this outfit … it has kundan work and dabka on it. I know that the cloth was dyed before the work was done on it and I was wondering if the color of the outfit can be changed without harming the work done on it.

Its a heavy work outfit and I paid a bit for it so I don’t want it to go to waste, if I could get it dyed in anohter color that would be great.

So please help me out, all the gs designers and fashionistas.

thanks for all your help…appreciate it.

Re: Question about dyeing a completed outfit

i was actually wondering the same thing

Nahin :( the threads would take-on the new color too.. and dabka would go grey as well.

Re: Question about dyeing a completed outfit

dying wont be very advisable I guess but you can always check with the dyer. they usually tell you the right thing.

Or you can sell it on ebay, it will get you some money and it wont be a total waste :) - I have seen a lot of women doing that.

Re: Question about dyeing a completed outfit

^ yea but u won't get anywhere near the price you paid for it. i am also wanting to dye this heavy outfit of mine, even if just to black. but my outfit have only swarovski's, beads, and diamontes...no threadwork or dabka. i will try to dye it next time i go to pak

Re: Question about dyeing a completed outfit

Hello, you can get it dyed but only in colours that can be dyed in cold water, when you take it to the dyer ask him for colour options you have for getting it dyed in cold water, cause hot water harms the dabka and other stuff but cold water wont!

Re: Question about dyeing a completed outfit

I have recently dyed a pishwas top which i did for a client. she wanted it to be yellow/green initially but after seeing the kaam, she changed her mind to orange/green. i got it dyed and the kaam stayed unchanged.
AW is right. dyer can give you best options for the colours you can get it dyed it. it also depends on material used for kaam.
