pump or nurse more often to avoid the plugged milk ducts. those are the hard spots you feel. as you nurse or pump, massage those as you would when checking for breast lumps. after a few feedings, they should be gone. they can be quite painful otherwise, so try to get rid of them.

pumping is all i’m doing so far. i tried latching him on for two feedings yesterday but it still hurt, even with the nipple shield. how can i not get the latch correct? i’m completely perplexed about how to do it. plus he’s usually screaming away for food which makes me anxious. sigh. lets see what the LC says on tuesday when i see her again.

I wonder what would happen if you tried latching him before his feed time, before he’s too hungry.
