Shahab-Naama was one of the best Urdu-written autobiographies I ever had the pleasure of reading, alongside Sargazhist by Yousufi.

I enjoyed it too. Extremely well written. Though his politics is right-wing Jamaat-e-Islami style.

However, the 'mystic experience' he describes seems out-rightly hallucinatory. His disciple Mumtaz Mufti also relates similar incidents which seem hallucinatory. The actual content of these experiences doesn't seem very profound. Makes me wonder about their state of mind.

Very interesting. Kudos to him for his services and the creativity he came up with. Like father like son.

Undoubtedly sensationalised with over the top fictional elements (?who knows) but excellent read and gives you such a unique perspective on post-partition bureaucracy and drawing room politics of 50s and 60s. for someone who was not even born at that time, I found it fascinating.

My mamoon used to read Shahbnama..when i was 3rd or 4th Grade. Back then..obviously i didn't know anything about QudratuAllah Shahab then. Good to see his son be a Chief Medical Officer of Saskatchewan!
