Quality of threads in Cafe

I’m a bit concerned, actually it bothers me a great deal as to the amount of nonsensical threads in Cafe. I know Cafe was initially created for people to introduce themselves to each other and have light-hearted chit-chat about non-serious topics. However, the quality of these threads over the years have drastically come down, and the number of threads has astronomically increased. It has become like msn messenger, but with all guppies connected.

I remember when I first joined, I always used to think carefully before opening a new thread, but now noone seems to care about what they’re writing and open a thread with regards to anything. I know I’m guilty too, but it surprises me sometimes that you guys are actually allowing this to happen.

Moderators, I think you need to rethink Cafe. Don’t lower your standards just because gupshup has become extremely popular.

I also find that because of the number of threads, people who dont check gupshup on a daily basis, may miss about 30 threads, and some of them may have been valid and of interest.

How about putting a restriction on each guppie as to how many threads they’re allowed to open in Cafe in a week or a day? Or how about just restricting the number of threads allowed in Cafe for a week? That way, we’ll all think twice before clicking on ‘New Topic’. You really need to step up on ‘quality control’. I think many guppies also stay away from cafe for this reason.

Dear Catty, can u please provide us a proven logic, algorithm or even a tool to measure absurd? Or the quality? If not, wouldnt it be a direct ridicule of dozens of guppies who open threads in cafe, which in ur view, r Nonsensical.

Roughly the age range of guppies vary from 15 to 40, so does their local cultures, living standards, their individual interests, upon what particular agreed upon rules can u stamp a thread as important or a non-important one? Maybe, something that might be interesting for me, is certainly a junk for u.

For e.g. I cooked something for the first time, I m excited & want to share it with friends, some of my friends r asking me how did it go or did it taste good? But for u its another piece of useless thread.

About cafe being changed, I Agree, it surely have & it sure should. Everything does, Internet for example was first designed as a research & communication medium only, even thousands of years back concepts of cloths was just to cover, & get warm from the cold weather, or was it for the fashion?.. tell me something Catty, have u not changed over the years?

Some times the change is good, sometimes its not, sometimes, although the change is needed & is good, but we r not ready to accept it, bcos we r not used to of it.

Threads being lost in cafe’s crowd is another valid point, but, the nature of threads allowed in a cafe r those which r day to day routines, or of mostly personal interests, happenings & opinions. So if u havent visited cafe for past 5 days, the chances r those 5 days old threads have lost there interest already.

I personally dont think restricting guppies on number of threads allowed is logical & fair. Again for the same reason, if I stay home all day, I might have nothing to post, but if u had ur busy day from office to friends, family to parties u might want to open different threads. Or those who spends less or more time on GS, for some the limit might be too much & for too less.

Anything that is light, on day to day routine or happenings we encourage it in cafe. But yes, we sure does discourage repeated threads, or threads which apparently have nothing else but just smillie faces.

Johnny bhai mai paanch saal ki bachi nahi hoon, the way you're going about explaining things to me.

Even though there is no method to measure the quality of a thread, gupshup can and should maintain certain standards. I know things change, the internet changes and even we evolve as humans. Gupshup has improved so much and is one of the best sites on the internet, and basically the only site that I actually visit. Therefore, I dont want to lose my gupshup or feel that it no longer meets my expectations. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way, because I've had people telling me they agree with me.

As for participants in Cafe ranging from the ages of 15 and 40, about 80% would be 20 and younger surely and only a small percentage even above 30.

I know you guys have certain standards, I just think you should enforce them a bit more.

Okay I just wanted to add that after having posted this thread numerous guppies via pm and msn have told me that they agree with everything I have stated here. And no, I did not go around asking for their opinions. The thoughts stated here were purely mine.
:)

So u admit 80% of the cafe guppies r in their teens maybe, which u & i r not anymore, so chances r most of their threads dosent attract us.

Even I agree with u, i dont like some thread, i dont reply in most, does this mean i should take there freedom of speech? ppl who told ya on MSN probebly r ur friends, with whom ur mental frequency match, what about those whom u dont like?

Okay Let even beleive non of us liked a perticular thread but, just the thread starter. Does this one person dont have a right to express ? just bcos we dont like his threads?

Thought is good, if u have a proper reasonable solution i m willing to adopt, limiting threads number just dosent convince me.

:bravo:

Thank U for the suggestions in thread & by replying Pms.

Let us see if we can make some changes/updates to enforce better quality.
