Quality of meat?

So my husband likes red meat-in particular keema.

I’ve used the same butchers for over 3 years now and have never had any problems until recently.

I cooked keema the other day and the keema looked ‘pale’. I didn’t think anything of it until my husband said there was too much fat in the keema dish (I added the same amount I normally do so it shouldn’t have been a problem). He also said the keema tasted ‘funny’.

I then made kebabs from keema bought from the same store and they’ve fallen to pieces. I’ve used the same tried and tested recipe and I’m gutted I’ve wasted money, time and energy (which I don’t have much of at the moment) on those stinky kebabs!

My fridge is working fine, and I’ve done nothing new.

Would it be fair to say something fishy is going on with the keema from said butcher? Would you go back and buy more?

I’m thinking about going to another butcher 3 miles away. We got meat from there at Eid (we were in the area) and it was good.

I am beginning to think I’m going mad-please someone out there tell me you’ve had a similar experience and I haven’t basically become a lousy cook overnight?

Re: Quality of meat?

i don’t think an established business will fool around with his products and as a result lose his valued customers. there may be any number of reasons for your suspicions. you may want to pin point the causes and if you ain’t satisfied or if you think the meat is bad, talk to the butcher/store owner and vent your grievances. see what he has to say…he deserves to be told at least once before you stop buying from him because he has served you well for the last 3 years or so.

Re: Quality of meat?

what was the color of keema when you bought it?
