Are World Politics, the happenings, and conspiracies an ingredient of spending time with family? More often than not I have noticed that whenever family members, or a few families gather the topics always somehow veer off to what is happening around the world especially among the elders. Perhaps I was not as observant growing up, but this is new for me. Or has it always been that way?
What is your Quality Family Time like? What do you talk about, and what most impacts your family as a whole from the surroundings?
Uncles do that, unless they have common hobbies/interests. They prefer to stick to topics which would probably not lead to confrontation. Events happening far from home are a safe bet.
Aunties, do not. They praise each other. However, the ‘quality’ of conversation abruptly deteriorates as soon as one of the aunties wanders out of earshot.
I am so lucky, every one being in different sport, our home never had that problem.
Lots of sports talk, cricket was only one of them.
Never had cricket the best of the best athletes, so we never really marvelled cricket or cricketers.
These days we talk PTI, but we dont consider is political talk. More like reforms talk.
My brothers and bhabi are into cricket. they will do anything to watch cricket and ofcourse pak losing is very emotional for them and that turned me totally against cricket. We had fights in our house due to cricket :).
my hubby is not into sports so luckly we dont watch cricket in my household.
anything and everything that is current or whatever ha happened that day…there is always plenty to talk about.
we also talk about nostalgic memories we have of our birthplace and our the people there. we quite often remember our ancestors [parents, grand parents and their extended family members]…we cherish their memories. it’s not just that their pictures decorate the walls of our living rooms, we also talk about them because we miss them.
it’s called “yaad-e-raftagaaN”…remembrance of the deceased!
they will do anything to watch cricket and ofcourse pak losing is exceptionally passionate for them and that turned me absolutely against cricket. We had battles in our home because of cricket . my hubby is not into games so luckly we dont watch cricket in my family
