The article refers to Quaid e Azam’s statements where he told that he is from the Lohana Rajputs living in Multan.
In a book about castes and tribes of Punjab, Lohana has been defined as under:
A tribe of Jats, descended from an eponym of Punwar Rajput origin belonging to Vikrama Jeet family, and found in Sialkot. The Lohan or Lahana also found in Hissar.
Title of Chandragupta second was Vikramaaditaya, which literally means the sun of power. There used to be two types of gods in Indian mythology. The first one called Soorajbunsi and the other chandrabansi.
rajput is aberrtion of Sankrit word Raj Putra, those who were meant to be ruler of Kshatriya caste, often the word Rajput is also used to represent any ruling community of Hindus, now Yadavs and Mauryas are backward class and are not considered Rajput or Thakurs but are martial kshtriya caste. Thakurs of UP area claim themselves Rajputs but Rajasthanis and Haryanvi Rajputs don't consider them so.
Lohanas are not considered jat, jat are entirely scythian tribe which entered in the region in 3rd century AD, while Lohanas consider themselves as Kshytriya as they claim themselves as decendents of elder son of Ram, on whose name Lahore was situated.
Rajput had major land holding while Jats had medium land holding. Lohanas are vedic tribe while Jats are not.
Suryavanshi and chandraVanshi are two particular classification of Kshytriyas, claim themselves as worshipper of Sun and Moon. Lohanas also called Labanas in Punjab, are considered as seprate caste, they are mostly in trading and assumed to have migrated towads Gujrat as well. But as suggested in intial post, Labanas/Lohanas are not Jat and Quaid was too smart to be a jat:)
