Perfect opportunity for Brazil to avenge the '98 final loss. Brazil are undefeated in this tournament, but they have been criticized for their sub-par performances.
France started off low, but are on a high right now with a 3-1 win against Spain.
Re: Germany '06 Fourth Quarterfinal BRAZIL Vs. FRANCE July 01
It's really up to the French. They can repeat the same lineup and play some defense or somehow put Trezeguet so he and Henry (and Ribery) can pressure Brazil's defense.
and in all these victories, Zidane played a big part:
v Spain: scored the first goal
v Portugal: scored the winning goal via spotkick
v England: demolished them by two goals in the 89th and 92th minute
v Italy: set-up the play for the golden goal by Trezeguet
v Brazil: annihilated them, with also two goals
This reminds of me of 1986 World cup in Mexico when there was a debate as to who the greatest football player was at that time. The french were obviously thinking Platini was and others Maradona. For Argentina as we all know Maradona won the World cup on his own with his individual performances.
This game will also provide the opprtunity and may settle the argument as to the greatest player in the world.
^well, clearly Zidane is over his top; so any good performance he shows will be a one-off. He won't be able to sustain it for the remaining 4 matches in his career.
Apart from that, I think Kaka is a better player than Ronaldinho. However, comparing them to when Zidane was in his prime form, they both are easily overshadowed.
On the other hand, it will be a contest of the best strikers in the world: Henry vs Ronaldo vs Adriano
brazil has too many stars, too much flair and heaps of talent to see them through. I don't see France beating them despite their heroics in the last match.
ehsan, based on talent and succes etc etc France probably have even more (if you look at the starting eleven).
For example, 7 out of the 10 fieldplayers have become Champion with their respective clubs, and then the remaining three are France's best players Henry, Ribery and Zidane. So judging from that even Brazil can't match that.
^ I knowwhat you are saying but they have not been performing that well recently and especially in the world cup. One good match does not mean that they have suddenly come into form. At this level every team has champions and great players in their teams but few teams are as outstanding as Brazil.
