You should read karen Armstrong’s Jerusalem (One City - Three Faiths). This book is the best covering importance of the city from Muslims, Jews and Christian perspective

Infact the term like Qari saheb I got to know from her, Her mother was teacher of mathematics in Madrassa as well, During that time Kashmir didn’t had government school. Now even India needs reform in Madrassa but I don’t think it is possible may be except Madrassas operated by Ahemadis:)
