I know this particular molvi saab who doesn’t go to the mosque because he believes all mosques in Canada are facing the wrong direction i.e. North East. The Qibla is South East since Saudia is south of Toronto
Below are the longitude and latitudes readings of Toronto and Makkah. Someone do the math.
Toronto AP (S) 43° 41’ N 79° 38’ W
Makkah 24° 39’ N 46° 42’ E
Fayz bhai, its actually depends on the fiqh you follow.
Most sunni fiqhs say that it has to be the shortest distance between the point of your prayer and Kaba, which turns out to be north east or so I am told.

It is smallest magnitude vector from point on globe to long/lat of Kabah (makkah).
Just curious..What is the direction of Qibla in Europe? Shortest distance theory is interesting to say the least since it is the direction (not distance) that is in question.
Chacha, dunya gol hai to phir aap ultay rukh namaz kyooN nhin paRtay? You should be able to get to Makah via London or go the other way around via Tokyo. Since you are not travelling when it comes to prayers therefore distance should not be an issue.
Uncle jee, read the above post. One can pray that way too but its the distance that is being considered. Lagta hai bhurapa jaldi a gaya. Now don’t ask why can’t you pray upside down.
