Qaza Namaz

When namaz-e-Zurh and Asr become qaza. Like how do you know that you need to pray qaza namaz. Suppose time for Zurh is 1:00pm now a days and Asr is around 4:30pm. If I pray for zurh around 3:00-3:30, do I have to pray regular namaz or qaza namaz. I don’t know if I am making sense but please reply. Thanks

Re: Qaza Namaz

According to Hanafi Fiqh...

Faj'r time remains till the sun rise... after sunrise you need to pray qadha of both 2 sunnah and 2 fardh until the zawaal time.... once zawaal is over... Zuhur times starts and u will need to pray only 2 fardh as qadhaa of Faj'r

Zuhr time remains till the start of As'r....

As'r time remains till sunset (though 15-20 minutes beofore sunset is a makrooh time but better than making it qadhaa)

Maghrib time remains till the start of Isha.... (YES! you heard me.... it's not 30 minutes 1 hour... as we hear.. not in hanafi fiqh though praying it late makes it makrooh)

Isha Time actually stays till before Tahajjud... though it is not wise to delay Isha too much...

Re: Qaza Namaz

Thank you so much.

Re: Qaza Namaz

Thanks AQ. The info is very appropriate and correct

However, for Zuhr, one confusion is that Shaa'fi Asr time starts about 45 minutes before Hanafai Asr time. I try my best to offer my Zuhr before the start of Shaafi Asr time

But then why does it matter if you entered Qaza time or not. If you have Neeyat to perform today's Zuhr, then it wil be today's zuhr, and neeyat will remain the same. You dont really have to know whether you enetered the Asr time or not

Re: Qaza Namaz

Never heard of that. Always heard that Maghrib must be prayed before the sunset/dark otherwise it's qaza?

Re: Qaza Namaz

No Sofia, AQ is right, That is a missconceptoin.

Although if you delay it more then 30 mins without reason, its makrooh

Re: Qaza Namaz

I concur -- but as soon as you enter As'r time, pray the qadha zuhr (follow whichever school of thought you normally follow)

As'r is based on the lenght of the shadow... if our shadow size becomes 1 and half times bigger than our original size (One Mis'L), according to Shafa'i, that's the start of As'r whereas in Hanafi Fiqh, it is double (Two Mis'L) ...

Re: Qaza Namaz

ishaa time starts as soon as it gets dark....
muslims pray it late (almost 1 1/2 hour after maghreb) based on a hadith which states that it is better to delay the ishaa prayer....
