Qawwali is the traditional form of Islamic song found in India and Pakistan. The word qawwali is derived from the Arabic word Qaol which means “axiom” or “dictum”. A Qawwal is one who sings qawwali, or the dictums of the prophets and praises of God. The Qawwali is closely linked to the spiritual and artistic life of northern India and Pakistan.
In last some of the topics in this forums i have read that one religion people cant partially participate in other religions affair. ie. in Gujrat muslims participating in rakhi.
Thats why i want to ask people here are hindus allowed to listen to Qawwalis
Das, Malhot answers you… “A lot of Hindus would bow their head when they pass a place of worship, and think of God- Allah, Ram, Jesus are all different names for the same GOD”
I can see that you dont have to tell me…But muslims don’t think that the God of abraham is Jesus or Ram.Let me put it this way God in Islam does not have any human manifestation.
GOD in Hinduism is also the power behind the source not the human being.
As well there are two schools in Hinduism
Sakar Brahm - God with Shape
Nirakar Brahm _ God with No Shape (This group doesn’t believe in Human form of GOD)
Hence bowing head in front of a Mosque/ Temple/ or Church is more bowing to all encompassing power.
The Form inside is just a manifestation of that power within Sakar Brahm.
By the way, my answer is Yes Hindu’s can listen to Qawwali since Hinduism doesn’t prevent it.
I don't see why not but I doubt he'll get any spiritual benefit from it, may as well listen to Bhajans instead.
It's usually only borderline Hindu "Muslims" who listen to Qawwali.
Music is only a pleasure of the flesh that's why false religions which lack true spirituality try and make up for it by getting their congregations high of music and clapping and wine, but all that only has a deteremental effect on ones spirituality.
Islam has a different flavour from other religions, you have to work hard and strive yourself to feel it's essence, it can't usually be experienced by someone sunken in sin by a weekly karaoke at the church or mandir. The heartwarming peace and calm one feels when one acquires the true love/mercy and fear of Allah is indescribable.
I'm not saying I'm constantly at that stage of peity, I've not felt it for a long time because sadly I'm far from my religion, it's striving in the right path which builds that feeling stronger and stronger, but I do know the difference between spiritual pleasure and physical pleasure, one must be completely braindead to confuse the two. The religion of the Pagans and the Jews/Christians (has become) is nothing more than singing and dancing, Muslims shouldn't fall into the same trap. Occasionally Naat which do not over exaggerate our Prophet's (SAW) status to God's and have no music are fine but Qawwali is daft.
Prince of Persia......... You make me laugh............ You can keep your argument...... I can't argue with you.......... :-)).
Hindu (muslims), false religion, Music is pleasure of flesh........ WOWOWOWOW

I think the purpose of inventing qawwali was to attract local people of india towards Islam ???? Why you want them not to listen to it. Let me ask you a question Why as a muslim they are allowed to listen to qawwali when it uses so many music instrument ????????? (which is harram in Islam)
street level islam in southasia means reversing away from the graves in a show of excessive veneration for the graves and Decorating the graves .most epensive grave is taj mahal.
If the “axioms” or “dictums” are accompanied with the musical instruments (i dont know about hidus) but muslims can not listen to them. Since listening to the muslical instruments is not allowed even if they are accompanied with “axioms” or “dictums”.
