QATAR (AA) - September 19, 2012 - A Qatar-based film production company has said it would shoot a three-part movie series depicting the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad amid violent protests across the Muslim world sparked by an anti-Islam film that insulted and denigrated the Islamic prophet.
Qatari company Nur’s CEO Ahmad Hashem told The Anadolu Agency on Wednesday that the film will deliver “the universal message” of the Prophet Muhammad and that it was a response to “Innocence of Muslims,” the American production that has sent thousands on Muslims to storm US diplomatic missions in several Muslim countries within the past week.
Hashem said the film’s budget would be around $450 million, adding that its scenario was almost complete which said was drafted after consultations with Islamic scholars.

Ghost and Mercenary,
What is your problem if such a movie is made? Why does it seem to hurt your feelings?
Does it really hurt to see Muslims doing something positive instead of acts of terrorism?

Why dignify this crap with a response? This is a petty response. A positive response would be to engage in dialogue with your non-Muslim neighbours and teach them about your religion. Hell, learn about your religion first hand, and not from some Mullah. Show some compassion and tolerance to those who disagree with your views on Islam or religion. That's positive. This movie is petty and just draws more attention to the original filth.

well honestly it does hurt, our prophet dont need any kind of publicity and give me one good reason why movie, if anyone wants to know about the prophet we have quran. What makes nonmuslim think it is the right thing and who gave them the right to do whatever they want, whatever they please. First cartoons, then burn quran and now this. If we musilms will forbid nonmuslim not to jump in fire cause it will hurt us muslims badly, nonmuslims will gladly jump in the fire if it really is the case of hurting muslims. What you call all this..
Re: Qatar plans $450 million dollar movie on Prophet Muhammed
Yeap and the guy who made the movie was killed in a terrorist attack in Jordan in 2005.
I did not know about that. Was he the target of that killing or just an unfortunate person who happened to be there?
and how does that change the message that movie is all about?

Whether it is petty or not, it is not a violent response. So there is no need to get offended by it.
That film was a crap. But this film won't be. Whether this film is in response to that crap does not matter.
I do not think this movie was being planned ONLY in response to that crap. No one can declare a large project out of the blue. It has been about two weeks that demonstrations against the American crap started. Do you really think Qatari company would have finalized this huge project within two weeks, and also did consultations with Islamic scholars during this time?
He probably had this thing already going on. And he is just using this occasion to advertise his movie.
Re: Qatar plans $450 million dollar movie on Prophet Muhammed
YOu know how we should spend these 450 Million? We should send it some poor christian countries. That will show people the real spirit of Islam.
Do you really think 450 million is all that Qataris or Saudis have?
They can actually do BOTH the things at once. They can make this movie AND send the same amount to poor Christian countries.
This is a useless debate. It is like asking why American government give billions of dollars in aid to Israel when American themselves need this money in these terrible economy.

Then why not also get rid of all the books published on Islam and Prophets etc aimed at teaching others?
Re: Qatar plans $450 million dollar movie on Prophet Muhammed
Not a bad idea. counter propaganda with propaganda.
though 450 mil sounds too much but i am sure it will be lot less. i mean they wont have to create Sci Fi sets ,blow up buildings or expensive car chases. it will be a simple story with simple sets.
Re: Qatar plans $450 million dollar movie on Prophet Muhammed
Perhaps they're going to make life size sets of Makkah and Madinah since the Saudis are very strict about filming there. So all of that would add to the costs.
“As a protest against the release of this film, Afro-American Hinafi Muslims, under their leader, Hamaas Abdul Khaalis (born Ernest McGhee, 1921 - 2003), seized several adjoining buildings in Washington DC, from March 9 - 11, 1977. They took 149 hostages and killed a police officer and a broadcast journalist in a 39-hour-long standoff.”
