Hi,
I need some information about travelling by qatar airways.I am planning to travel from Montreal to Lahore and Montreal during October and on the way back to Montreal there is connection time of about 11 hours at Doha(Qatar) airport so my concern is weather airline will provide me the hotel & Visa for that connection or I will have to arrange on my own.My travel agent told me that if I purchase a ticket with some kind of discount then there will be no gurantee for hotel and I will have to claim it over there at Doha airport and it,s up to them weather they will give me or not but if I will purchase ticket on normal fair then hotel is guranteed.Any guppy traveled by Qatar Airways and have good or bad experience about the hotel & Visa, what,s the policy of Qatar Airways.If they give me hotel will I have to pay extra for visa, pick&drop or some other charges.Please advise me what should I do at the time of ticket purchase to avoid any future problems at Doha Airport.Also any idea about good price for the return trip.

I travelled to Dubai last year on Qatar Airways (the flight was delayed on both inbound and outbound journeys) There is nothing to do at Qatar Airport…it’s really small, crammed and boring.

There's a lounge on the first floor (i.e. ground floor) that you can use incase the flight's delayed or something goes wrong with the hotel accommodation. They charge you $20 every 6 hrs. There will be free snacks and drinks. Internet too. Given the condition of the airport, it's totally worth it.

If you are a Canadian national (which I assume) then you can get a visit visa on arrival and go out of the airport as well. There is a fee of 55 Qatari Riyal for that, ie approx. 20 Canadian Dollars.
It's not like there is a lot of things to see in Doha, but at least it's better than wasting your time at the airport.

Qatar airways is good but yes doha airport is very small and boring but new and big airport is under development and will be completed in 2009 (first part) then the next part will be completed in 2015. Now a days traffic condition is also very bad here due to road constructions and maintenance. 15th asian games are going to held here and there will be more traffic problem in coming days.
