Qasas and Asateer

Anyone knows the difference between Qasas and Asaateer?

Re: Qasas and Asateer

could you please spell asaateer? thank you.

asaateer [alif, seen, alif, toe, ye, re] is plural of usturah...can you spell the the other asaateer in relation to qisaas? :) thanx

ek aur ma'nii bhii hote haiN:

asaateer = qisse kahaaniyaaN

qisaas = plural of qissah?

or

qasaas = iniqaam, Khoon-bahaa, Khoon ka badla Khoon?

Re: Qasas and Asateer

I’m referring to the words Asateer (like Asateer ul awwaleen) and Qasas (Ahsan ul Qasas) as used in Quran?

If Asateer means qisse kahaniyan the Qasas got the same meaning too? Am I right? So what is the difference between the terms then? :hmmm:

Re: Qasas and Asateer

as i said in the above post that these words have more than one meaning depending on the usage in your sentence. QASAAShas ZABAR on Harf-e-‘QAAF’ meaning Blood Money while QISAAS with a ZER on Harf-e-‘QAAF’ is plural of qissah meaning stories/fables/tales

same with ASAATEER…one of the emanings is QISSE KAHAANIYAAN so yes, they do mean the same thing…as i understand! :slight_smile:

Re: Qasas and Asateer

I think Qasas (with Zabar) is plural of Qissa and Qisas (with Zer) is Khoon Baha.

Quran has a complete sura 'Qasas' which deals with the story of Hazrat Musa.

Re: Qasas and Asateer

magar us soorat kaa naam to surat ul QASAS hai na k surat ul QASAAAS! ek kitaab bhi hai jiskaa naam hai "QASAS ul ambiyaa"...to word in donoN jaghoN par QASAS hai na k QASAAAAAAAAS

but, may be...may be we mispronounce it in Urdu...Qur'aanic version is undoubtedly the correct one ... so, thanx for the correction.

Re: Qasas and Asateer

But where did I used word Qasaas in my posts?

So whats the difference between Asaateer and Qasas? I think Asaateer means (jhoti kahaniyan- fake stories), whereas Qasas is (True story).
