Peaceful protests and writing letters to Western leaders is the correct way to stand up for ourselves. Thumbs up to Qadri for that.
I don't agree that we should ignore the hateful nonsense portrayed against Muslims and Islam in the name of free speech and think that we'd be okay...Perhaps European Jews thought the same and decided to ignore the whole thing.

Hareem01, That is a ridiculous argument. The same newspaper publishes satire on other religions and figures alike. Jews, Muslims, Christians, Hindus - you name it - they have done it. Why then should they give in to demands of one religion? If you don't like the laws of France, you have option to leave. They are not giving citizenship of France by force. Qadri's arguments are ridiculous and baseless.
I do ask, should we turn western countries into cesspool that is Pakistan. Where 'gustakh'e'rasool' are publicly executed? I hope everyone followed the Junaid Jamshed episode. What crime did he commit? And why is he out of the country living in West fearing his life?
I would much rather put idiots like Amir Liaqat in jail for encouraging hate crimes. Instead that idiot is on TV as a defender of 'hazoor's shaan'. Who died and made him incharge of protecting Rasool's honor? WHY is Qadri not addressing the ignorance ripe in Pakistan instead of giving lectures to Obama. Tragedy of muslim nation and why we are the laughing stock - because we listen to morons like Qadri.

first and foremost, no one is asking france or west to change their way of life for Muslims. we are not asking them to start praying, shut down clubs, no sex before marriage, and ban drinking...so we are not bothering them at all. lets get this right..we are not doing anything that is provocative.
but they are doing something on the name of freedom of expression that is bothering us Muslims...and as french citizens or western citizens, we are telling the govt that it is hurting our emotions deeply. Yes we shd not kill anyone and i dont agree with blasphemy laws but it is our right to raise our voice if something is hurting us. and the right way is to protest peacefully, write to newspapers, and talk to your local lawmakers.

because every race, society, religion and culture has its own threshold level of "painful insult"... as a community, we are all raised in a certain way and are programmed differently. others shd simply accept and respect those threshold levels instead of trying to rationalize why one pain point is more or less painful..

^ agree with above. Even if Qadri is right , that we speak up on these things but not enough when people who "look" religious when they shoot 150 kids bent down cowering in their behinds and heads, shows how sad we are as an ummah. If we want others to respect us, how about we respect ourselves? Qadri's procession involved beating up police men instead of being peaceful and provoking by trying to fly into Pakistan when he was being blocked by administration. Meanwhile after weeks of dharna wasting time of citizenry of middle class that would have been more productive working, he left Pakistan and gave up after his big promises.
There should be a policy. If you're a mullah you don't get to be any sort of a leader.

It is an impressive piece of document, and he's probably the only cleric who openly supported army operation in FATA, and asked for more. Perhaps the only mainstream cleric who had successfully tried to build a bridge between Shia and Sunnis (or Barelvis in that case). He gets a lot of unnecessary criticism and plain old hate due to sectarianism or opposing a Saudi lapdog of a useless Prime Minister who has turned Pakistan into a rotten oligarchic state.
