One more performance like the one in the current test and Dravid will be on top.

But the problem is that other contender is Lara, who also seems to gaining his brilliance back and his great knock in first innings against SA. If Lara also keeps knocking that way then 1st and 2nd places may remain belonging to the same.

True but put it this way, if you had to choose out of the two to bat for your life, who will it be?
Looking at his consistency over the last 12 months or so I would say Dravid. That is not to tak away anything from Lara.

Interesting to see that Sachin is an ODI man and Inzi a Test man.

Not really.First time in last 10 years Sachin was out of top 10(mostly he was in top 3).Does that mean he was best test batsman for last 10 years and now he is just an ODI guy.
There have often been two batsmen competing for top place before; sometimes even three. But this may be the first time that four batsmen have all had a realistic chance of going top of the Ratings on a particular day. And the astonishing thing is that it's too close to call. Lara will go down, Ponting and Hayden will go up, and Dravid won't shift by too much, but an accurate estimate of points movements is hard. It partly depends on what happens on the final day in Melbourne (an unbeaten 50 from Hayden would help him enormously). As we write, there is a chance that any one of the four batsmen in question could be number one by the end of December 30th. And then there are only a couple of days respite before it all happens again next week!

I think Dravid should be number 1, he had to score runs against the strong Aussie bowling.
Do players receive points based on the quality of the opposing bowling attack.
There is no doubt that Shoaib will be moving up in PWC Test Bowling. ;)
