Last week we published what would be the current PwC Rest of the World Test team to play Australia in the proposed ICC battle of the titans.
Several of you have asked what the PwC one-day team would be for the accompanying one-day tournament.
The criteria for selection are a little less clear, but let’s assume we need:
At least two specialist openers; a keeper who is a good batsman; the three top bowlers plus three other bowlers who are strong batsmen, at least one of whom must be a spinner.
It makes sense to include the top PwC all-rounders in this team, which would suggest the following (in rough batting order):
Kallis and Flintoff are there because they are in the top three of the all-rounder list. An embarrassment of riches in this powerful team, but can it be improved based on the current PwC one-day ratings or otherwise? You tell us.
Well can't exactly fill the whole side with fast bowlers, Australians have been always suspectible to quality spin bowling..Pretty much the team looks fairly balanced, as for Dravid keeping the wickets, that's a sticky option to go with..
I'd rather play Shoaib Malik in place of Flintoff. Plus I'll probably open with Lara and Tendulkar and drop Trescothic. Bring Ganguly in for Trescothic. Plus drop Vaas and bring in either Shane Bond or Shoaib Akhtar in his place.
I was a little double minded while selecting this team. The only thin I probably would change is bring Stephen Flemming in place of Shoaib Malik because of Flemming's leadership skills plus he is a decent batsman.
^^ Shoaib is definatley better then Flintoff. WHats wrong with having Ganguly there. He is a very handy batsman to have plus he can also be utilized as a bowler if needed. As I said the only thing I would change would be bring Fleming in for Shoaib Malik but I think Ganguly should be there.

I dont blame you. You people thought Robin Singh was a good allrounder too. And yes, I seriously believe Shoaib Malik is better then Flintoff & Inshallah in the coming years you will see that he proves it beyond a shdow of doubt. He is a geniune all rounder. He use to be a bits and pieces player but he has improved both his batting and bowling. A more then useful batsman and a very handy bowler, not to forget an exellent fielder. He has been a consistent performer since the rebuilding and will continue improving.
