Putting Pardah on your Buraiyaan

Putting a Pardah on your Buraiyan…Veil on your Sins/Faults

Please share explanations/ayahs/ahadeeth/thoughts on this topic

jazakallah

There is no point in hiding your sins and neither there is any in making an issue out of them. After realization, one should simply go ahead and evaluate how he can improve himself.

:salam:

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “All of my ummah may be forgiven except those who commit sin openly. It is a kind of committing sin openly if a man does something at night, then morning comes and Allaah has concealed his sin, but he says, ‘O So and so, I did such and such last night,’ when his Lord has concealed him (his action) all night but in the morning he reveals that which Allaah had concealed for him.”

Commiting sins openly

thanks SKN and M

M, :wsalam:..my question to you now is:

If you hide your sins from the world then aren’t you giving the impression of being better than what you are? Isn’t that hypocrisy?

No, Irem, i think there is a difference between hiding one's sins, and pretending to be someone you are not. Just because a person hides her/his sins from others, does not necessarily mean that the person has to assume a false character role and pretend s/he is some Mother Teresa on earth. You simply don't 'publicize' your sins publically, as in the Hadith that M quoted. However, if say one of your friends asked you specifically about something, and you felt that you would be lying in your response if you did not acknowledge some part of your flawed personality, then of course you should tell the truth (easier said than done, i realize), and from an Islamic pov - i would imagine one suitable response might be, well this is how i am, this is part of my personality, i realize it's not right, i hope i change this eventually Insha'Allah.

i know it may seem slight, but i believe there is a distinction between deceiving others by making them believe you're someone whom you're not, versus internally realizing one's own sins and striving to become a better person (jihad al nafs, i guess it's called? Might be wrong on that). The whole world does not need to know each and every aspect of your personality, in my humble opinion. Those are issues between you and God, and they are the business of no other being.

nadz some solid thoughts there yara :k:

Irem jee, I am not a scholar, not even a learned person, not even a great muslim, I only provided u with a hadith, cause u asked for it. You can read the previous link I provided which talks about sining openly and explains the meaning of the hadith.

And anyway I think the hadith is self explanatory, If you do somethig wrong and no one knows than dont tell anyone. Its between u and Allah :swt: and you only have to repent to him, Islam is not like Christianity where u have to confess your sins.

I dont think it makes you seem ‘better than you are’. I mean how can that be measured, different people will judge you in different ways. If we start worrying about what other people think we will always be compromising our religion.

As muslims we should only worry about what Allah :swt: and his messenger :saw: told us.

Wouldnt it be more hypocritical, if we reveal our sins when we have been commanded not to?
