Putting Children In DayCare

Re: Putting Children In DayCare

do people not have decent day cares around? Now i have seen many crappy day care centers but there are many good ones around as well.

my kids have been going to day care, it has an excellent caregiver to kid ratio, they have planned activities, play time, drawing time etc.

they are now going to to half day preschool and then go to the daycare for a few hours, but they used to go to the daycare for full day until last fall.

we get a written report each day even noting their mood throughout the day, how well they ate, when they went to the restroom, projects they worked on and everything. there is indoors and outdoors play areas, the place is sparkling clean. I have zero complaints against the place.

To me a formal daycare center is better than a homebased daycare that solo aunties run or a nanny even. Kids are more engaged, have formally trained caregivers each has been screened for criminal background and the center meets fairly robust licensing requirements.

Sheen- every person has a unique situation, what is ideal for one may not be possible for someone else. My sis had sent her kid to her mother in law and my mum for a bit and it was very tough on her and it was very tough for the kid to be away from parents and the having to leave ppl that played the parent role and back to parents. Its not a good idea.
