The undeniable fact is that Russian govt slapped Pakistan in the face by asking Pak to stop terrorism on the eve of Musharraf’s visit.
Put ** "given Pakistan meets its obligations to bar terrorists
from crossing the Line of Control into Jammu and Kashmir, and to liquidate terrorist
infrastructure "**
in any context, it is a slap. Ouch ![]()
Spin it.

Invited President Musharraf (just like your PM did at Agra) to Russia for a histotric state visit, the first by a Pakistani Head of State for decades. Now keep on crying over that fact...and prepare for some historic accords to be signed. Until that time keep taking comfort from the one paragraph from Rediff. :)

Yeah. We are sooo jealous. After all, no leader in history has been so insulted by statements such as:
"given Pakistan meets its obligations to bar terrorists from crossing the Line of Control into Jammu and Kashmir, and to liquidate terrorist infrastructure "

Malik is right, it’s so entertainin.
Just look at the headline from an Indian source. Compare that with an Independent source.
I’m sure Musharraf gonna give the same spin about Chechyan as EU does. ![]()
This is what Musharraf said about so-called Camps while havin’ discussion with Swamy.
However, the president maintained that the rhetoric of training camps in Pakistan-administered Kashmir was incorrect. “Some Russian official has made a statement that there are 70 to 72 terrorist camps in AJK. We have offered that the Russians physically inspect the area and show us where the terrorist camps are,” he added
So, when Russian officials are goin’ to be in Pakistan Administered Kashmir? If they are so darn sure about no. of camps, then so about location as well. ![]()
Russian Terrorism against Chechyans
What Putin says about that?
Slaps after slaps - Only you can find it entertaining. ![]()
President arrives in Moscow.
Bilateral co-operation between Islamabad and Moscow likely.
Pakistani President arrives in Russia for state visit
Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf arrives in Russia on Tuesday for a three-day state visit, at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During the visit, General Musharraf will hold talks with Russian authorities on developing bilateral cooperation. Indian-Pakistani relations will also be discussed at the meeting, as well as other urgent international problems, including the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Pakistani leader last visited Russia in the autumn of 2002. During that visit, both Russia and Pakistan condemned Washington’s possible attack against Iraq without the UN Security Council’s sanction. The leaders of the two countries said this would further complicate the Iraqi settlement and aggravate the situation in the Gulf and the Middle East. But the attack’s main negative consequence would be a sharp rise in anti-American sentiment in the Arab world.
Mushy for defence ties. I wouldn’t take that as a good deal. Technical support would work but Arm deals sucks, big time.
Pakistani President arrives in Moscow
**In an interview with Interfax prior to his visit, Musharraf expressed hope that the visit will help the two countries “enter a new stage of friendly relations and cooperation for their mutual benefit.”
Commenting on bilateral relations, the Pakistani president spoke in favor of maintaining defense ties with Russia. Among other advantageous fields of cooperation, he mentioned the oil and gas industry, space technology and the metals industry**
Great interview ![]()
**Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf is coming to Russia for the first time this week. Ahead of his Moscow visit he granted an exclusive interview to Interfax news agency correspondent Vladimir Kulikov **
Pervez Musharraf: bin Laden is not in Pakistan
[thumb=A]imagedfd.JPG[/thumb]
-
Interfax: Mr. President, you are visiting Russia for the first time. What are your expectations from this visit? What questions are going to be discussed with the Russian leadership?
-
Musharraf: Yes, it is indeed my first visit to Russia. I would like to thank President Putin for his invitation. Russia is a great power and an important player in the world affairs. Pakistan wishes’close and friendly relations with the Russian Federation. I expect that my visit to Moscow would help our two countries to forge together to begin a new era of friendly relationship and cooperation for the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries.
**I am looking forward to comprehensive discussions on the entire range of our bilateral relations/ regional and international issues of common concern. ** :k:
-
Interfax: In Russia there is a realisation that the present stage of its relations with Pakistan is the most conducive for development of their bilateral and economic ties as equal partners. Whether you share such an estimation?
-
Musharraf: I fully reciprocate this perception I would also like to underpin my desires for deepening and expanding political and economic ties between our two countries.
-
Interfax: What, in your opinion, are the most prospective areas of cooperation between the two countries? Whether military - technical cooperation with the Russian Federation is planned and if yes, what are the specific interests of Pakistan?
-
Musharraf: **We are looking forward to enhance collaboration in various fields such as metallurgy, construction and up gradation of industrial infrastructure, oil and gas sector, processing of gemstones, agricultural products, surgical and sports goods and space technology. We will welcome increased interaction in all spheres including military cooperation. ** :k:
-
Interfax: The Russian side has voiced its concern over the possibility of the nuclear weapons of Pakistan falling into the hands of terrorists from “Al-Qaeda” who, under some information, could filter into Pakistan. Such fears, in your opinion, are true?
-
Musharraf: Any concerns about the security and safety of Pakistan’s strategic assets are without any basis. Pakistan has an impeccable record of nuclear safety and maintains a very comprehensive safeguard mechanism. There is no possibility at all of any sensitive material from Pakistan falling into the hands of AI-Qaeda or other terrorist elements.
-
Interfax: There is an assumption, that Osama Bin Laden is fine; alive and can disappear somewhere in between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Is there any solid information with Pakistani authorities on this account?
-
Musharraf: We do not have any definitive information in this regard, Pakistan is an active member of the coalition. The border is being monitored in the most comprehensive manner. Therefore, what we can say is that he is not in Pakistan.
Yeah
Some people enjoy beating themselves up ![]()

And I must thank you for taking some time off your research program on Colas.
Look what we have here. China’s response to Musharraf’s visit. Mushahid Hussain did a good research about Russia-China.
China Welcomes Musharraf’s Visit To Russia
BEIJING, China: Feb 04 (PNS) - **China has welcomed President Pervez Musharraf’s visit to Russia and hoped it would further help peace and development in the region. **
When asked to comment on the visit, beginning tomorrow on Feb. 4, a spokesperson of the Chinese government said, **“We hope the visit will achieve success.” **
He said Pakistan and Russia are both neighbouring and friendly countries of China. The Chinese government, he said looks forward for further development of these relations.
Diplomatic sources told APP that **China considers Russia and Pakistan important countries of the region. It is hoped that the Pak-Russian cooperation would lead to reduction of tension in the region. **
The sources added that Russia enjoyed close relations with India, could use its influence for resumption of talks between Islamabad and New Delhi for settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
**The relations between Russia and China are fast growing. President Jiang Zemin and Vladimir Putin during their meeting held in Beijing December last, decided to strengthen their cooperation for development of world peace and development. **
The two leaders noted that the Sino-Russian relationship had evolved in a healthy and positive manner over the past 10 years. Noting that China and Russia formed a strategic and cooperative partnership six years ago, President Jiang Zemin said that the two countries would further consolidate cooperation and mutual support in regional and international affairs.
The China-Russia treaty of friendship and cooperation signed in July 2001, required the two countries to make a long-term commitment to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Moscow extends its reach to Islamabad
By Mushahid Hussain

ISLAMABAD - After nearly two decades, a Pakistani president will visit Russia in a bid to build a better bond between the two countries, which have long had an estranged relationship. President General Pervez Musharraf goes to Russia on February 4 on an invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
From your article
**Moscow’s actions last year were illustrative in this context. For instance, during the height of the India-Pakistan military standoff in June 2002, Putin took the initiative of inviting both Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Moscow for dialogue to defuse tensions. Pakistan accepted, but India spurned the offer, but Putin did come out in a new light as a leader keen to mediate. **
No wonder Musharraf is going to Moscow, and all Vajpayee can stump up is a phone call. What is Vajpayee fearful of if he goes to Moscow?
