Great points Mirch.
I said in my last post that I do NOT belong to the category of people who firmly believe there is no creator.
The bolded part of your post is golden. That’s the primary reason why people get religious or stay religious. Its comforting to know there is a purpose, there is a pattern, etc etc. The only thing I’d like to add that.. this need of seeking a pattern or a purpose.. should not translate to blindly believing fairytale stories from the past which were propagated for this reason alone back in the day + as a way to control/influence the masses.
Be spiritual if that helps you. But I think there is no need to be so ritual and believe everything literally, especially when it gets political and gets down to discriminating or putting down beliefs of other people who just happened to be born in another culture and follow a different belief system to get the same thing as you are trying to get..comfort..solace..and peace.
