lostsoul - any lesson is only good if someone is willing to learn. I know plenty of people who changed because they have found faith and something to believe in. I went through a period of no faith at one time, but due to a few things that have happened in my life, I have come to believe there is a power out there. Whatever that's power's name is - God/Allah/Jehovah - I believe. Organized religion is a support system (for myself) and a way to keep reinforcing those basic moral rules.
I know there are times I have been tempted to do things, who hasn't, but ultimately I think of myself being judged in the end and it helps me make the right choice and stay on the path. I have messed up, again, everyone has, no one is perfect, but I also know that that is expected of me.
I understand your view and I can't say that I agree with it.
I will however pray for you and hope that you have peace in your life.
