Re: Puri Paratha
very simple…in a frying pan, add some noodles, mix vegetables, few pinches of salt and water. When the noodles and the vegetables are soft and tender, add 2-3 spoons full of crushed tomatoes, let it cook a little bit more, then add a spoon or two of feta cheese, almost 1/8th cup of cream and let it simmer. Finally chop some spinach and add to the noodles. When spinach wilts, it is good to eat.
I used a hand full of noodles and a hand full of vegetables. Also when noodles were really soft and tender, I used the spoon to cut them into smaller pieces so it is easy for the baby to eat.
My son is 9 months old. I used cheese and cream because I have introduced him to dairy and he is not allergic (alhamdulilah). However, if you have not introduced your baby to dairy then skip cheese and cream.
Re: Puri Paratha
This has nothing to do with living abroad or mixing cultures…what queer, KKF, I and others are calling a bhatoora is very much a real, pure Indian Punjabi bread that had been around for eons. It is very obviously different from what you’re describing and other than sounding similar in name it’s obviously that they are two different things. Why can’t you just acknowledge what we’re talking about without discrediting it? No one is saying a “pathoora” doesn’t have a daal in it…we were hair commenting that the name sounded similar to a “bhatoora” which has been established as being a completely different thing ![]()
me neither queer joon…but I do plan on having chola bhatoora this weekend now ![]()
Re: Puri Paratha
Many of you wrote that Pathoora never has daal in it so im not discrediting anyone but telling you my very much experience in Pakistan. I am insisting again and again because none of you were ever saying that there is something different called Bhatoora. Bhatoora can differ and i simply dont know about it. Neither it sounds much of my taste. Me, my sisters and cousins are quite fond of pathoora and they are daal filled. Never had bhatooras. I think they are more like a bread taste if they have yeast. Once i made a kind of such flat bread with yeast in it and fried. It was tasting much like pizza base thing but crispy due to frying
Re: Puri Paratha
I had bathoray at an indian resturant with chanay, they were delish! They were not stuffed, they did match queer’s description.
Maybe in India its called bathooray (and they are without mash daal) and in Pakistan it is pathooray (with mash daal)…either way I would love to enjoy both.
Re: Puri Paratha
I’ve never had pathooray, but chole bhaturay at indian restaurants in USA are so so good. I like bhaturay better than puri now, they are less heavy than puris on the stomach, and are just fluffy yummy goodness.
