Purchasing Alcohol

Whats the verdict on the matter. Please provide Hadis and quotes to back up any comments made. I am not interested in the views of self-styled pundits. But actually on the text on the matter.

Can muslims purchase alcohol even if they do not drink?

Re: Purchasing Alcohol

If they do not drink then why will they purchase? :hmmm:

Re: Purchasing Alcohol

.

if you are not interested in the views of self-styled pundits and only in the authentic hadis then please PM Mufti Google

CM as far as I know being involved in any kind of business involving haraam things is not permitted. If muslims are not allowed to sell alcohol, they shouldn't be throwing away their halaal ki kamayi on something haram either.

I know u asked for hadiths and not opinions, but I'm too lazy right now to look up hadiths :D

Re: Purchasing Alcohol

it is not permitted , cant remember hadith but if u have access to it read biography of abdur rehman b sahl ansari a badri companion who protested sharply when the governer of syria was allowing trading of alcohol and he quotes Rasoolallah for forbidding it.Thats mentioned by ibn Athir

Re: Purchasing Alcohol

Where not allowed anything tht is haram becoz it is considered bad for our health no? so I'm guessing as long as ur not harming urs or anyone else's health it should b ok

Re: Purchasing Alcohol

^ these are superficial arguments , its haram cuz Prophet said so end of the discussion. We dont need to know if its bad or good for health.Red meat is bad for health too yet no one claims that we shudnt eat it

Red meat is not bad for our heath we need it in order to maintain a healthy diet. its only bad in large quantities......

I understand our prophet (pbuh) said this, but is it not our duty to teach ourselves why these things are haram for us?

same thing medical research says about alcohol

its enough that he said so , unless he specified our rationalization may be very wrong

Re: Purchasing Alcohol

Eating red meat does not have the same effect as drinking alcohol ufff. Eating red meat after a period of time U can be prone to getting heart disease drink a few glasses of alcohol and get behind a wheel of a car and put urs and someone else's life at risk is no way the same thing.

Re: Purchasing Alcohol

^so whos saying that u drink n drive ?

i know many people who drink a glass of wine a day and are as healthy as a horse
never had liver heart or lung problems

moral of the story is : we dont need scientific proof to backup whats in shariah thats just fundamentally wrong way of following islam

Re: Purchasing Alcohol

ughh man uve confused my brain cells, who said I'm looking at scientific proof its what I've read. If u rather go by a book of what not to do (without any explanations) rather then why u shouldn't do things then good luck to u. goodnite

Re: Purchasing Alcohol

According to Sunan Ibn-I-Majah Volume 3, Book of Intoxicants, Chapter 30 Hadith No. 3380.
It was reported by Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:

Allahs curse falls on ten groups of people who deal with alcohol. The one who distills it, the one for whom it has been distilled, the one who drinks it, the one who transports it, the one to who it has been brought, the one whom serves it, the one who sells it, the one who utilizes money from it, the one who buys it and the one who buys it for someone else.”

Almost everyone here implied that alcohol if purchased or sold will be used for intoxication. I agree with them in that case but there are other uses e.g.,

1) In labs
2) manufacture of medicines etc.
3) wound cleaning
4) as automobile fuel

so I am sure selling and purchasing alcohol for these purposes should be OK.

Do mean intoxicant or medicinal?

Alcohol is prohibited in the Hadith by Anas r.a. by the Prophet Muhammad. There are ten group of Alcohol;

1 Distill
2. For whom distilled
3. Drinking
4. Transporting
5. Buying for Stocking
6. Serving
7. Selling
8. Utilizes for it
9. Buy for oneself
10.Buy for someone else

Here are some hadiths about selling alcohol:

“If Allah Taa’la makes Haraam the consumption of something; He also makes Haraam its transaction.” (Musnad Ahmad, Hadith no. 2546)

Muslims are also forbidden to sell wine, idols, and pork. Sahih Muslim vol.3 book 9 (Book of Business) ch.621-622 no.3835-3840 p.828-830.

They cannot buy, sell, or carry wine. Ibn-i-Majah vol.4 book 30 (Book of Drinks) no.3380-3381 p.493-494; vol.4 book 30 no.3382 p.494.

Selling alcohol is forbidden in Bukhari vol.1 book 8 (Book of Prayer) ch.73 no.449 p.267.

“Truly, Allah has cursed khamr (alcoholic beverages) and has cursed the one who produces it, the one for whom it is produced, the one who drinks it, the one who serves it, the one who carries it, the one for whom it is carried, the one who sells it, the one who earns from the sale of it, the one who buys it, and the one for whom it is bought.” (Reported by At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah)
