Purchasing a Tawa

Re: Purchasing a Tawa

^ hahaha. awesome! i wonder why i didn't think of that myself :D

Brain power. :halo:

I remember when I was lil.. ma mom also had an upside down tawaa.. Got it from Pakistan back then.. I called it belly tawaa..:D Used that one for many many yrs..!

Well its not THAT heavy.. I mean.. Its easy to lift, but it was a bit heavier compared to the other tawaa's I've seen at the shop.. Ehm.. I paid around 15 pounds for this tawaa coz it was by Mittal.. all other tawaa's (same size) were around 10 pounds or less..

Re: Purchasing a Tawa

yesterday i saw tawa on mexican store, 2 tpyes one is round tawa other is square i have both works good
round for chapati squre for pratha

Real Tawas are concave in shape and you flip them over and they become convex ..

anyway, another reason of Tawa cook the way it does is because of Black color. If you paint the same Tawaa white, it wont give you the same taste, texture of your roti ..

Re: Purchasing a Tawa

alrighty..so anyone know the english word for tawa? i was thinking of trying to find them at the regular angrassi stores, but i wouldn't know what to ask for...
any ideas?

TLK - stupid question..but isn't the tawa black cause it's made of iron? i'm guessing you mean to say that they paint it black?
