Which one is the mostly recited / read translation of Quran in Punjabi?
Have you seen a Punjabi translation in your home / masjid?

I was reading an article written some 7 years back about Sharif Kunjahi and the columnist was praising the writer for translation of Quran in Punjabi. The writer didn’t mention whether or not before him such translation was available, but the kind of praise did gave me a perception that it was probably not available.

find this through google. But I still have doubts, as it doesn’t talk about Sharif Kunjahi’s translation (who died in 2007).

Holy Quran translated into Punjabi for first time
LAHORE:16 April: Tauqir Amaan Khan is the first Pakistani to translate holy Quran into Punjabi for the first time.
The holy Quran has been translated in many languages across the world. In respect of number of speakers, Punjabi is considered to be among the first ten languages of the world. More than 40 million people across the globe understand Punjabi. In Pakistan, 12 million people understand and speak Punjabi, whereas in India more than 30 million people understand the language.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Times, Khan said that being a Punjabi, he felt it was his responsibility to convey the message of Allah Almighty to the people in his native language. The Arabic text runs parallel to the Punjabi translation in the holy Quran translated by Khan.
He said that prior to starting the project, he read works of a good number of ulemas, including Hafiz Nazar Muhammad, Maulana Bashir Ahmad, Dr Israr Ahmad, Maulana Mududi, Javed Ahmad Ghamadi, Ameen Ahsan Islahi, Maulana Tahirul Qadri, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Mufti Mustafa Sahffi, Ashraf Ali Thanavi, Pir Karam Shah several others.
Khan said his aim was to satisfy readers of all sects since the message of the holy Quran was a universal and same for each and every individual.
“I started my work in 2002, after I came back from Hajj,” he said, adding that he spent four years reading and understanding the work of authentic ulemas.
“In 2007 I translated Suraha-e-Fatiha into Punjabi and worked for eighteen to twenty hours every day,” he disclosed. During this time I did not meet any friend or relatives, he added. Finally in December 2009, Khan completed the project.
From 2009 to 2011, he cleared all kinds of checking and gained approval from different ulemas, finally obtaining a certificate of authenticity of the Punjabi translation. He also obtained a certificate from Maulvi Mukhtar Ahmad, a registered proofreader of Punjab Religious Affairs Auqaf Department.
Currently, Khan is in search of sponsors who could help him with the printing of his translated version of holy Quran, after which he will properly launch it in the market.Daily Times.

Punjabi Translation in Audio is available but I think it will be hard to read in Punjabi as most of the people read Punjabi only in FA or BA to get some goof marks.

میں آپ کے سامنے جس عظیم شخصیت کا ذکر گوش گزار کرنے جا رہا ہوں وہ ہستی ایک عظیم معلم، مصنف، شاعر، مترجم اور دانشوار ہے۔ میرئے الفاظ اس قابل نہیں اور نہ ہی میرئے ناقص علم میں اتنی پختگی ہے کہ میرا قلم اس بلند پایہ شخصیت کے متعلق تحریر کر نے کے لئے سطح کاغذپر رواں ہو سکے۔لیکن میں پھر بھی اس عظیم ہستی کے بارئے میں کچھ نہ کچھ تحریر کرنے کی جسارت کرتا ہوں۔
پر وفیسر محمد شریف جن کو لوگ شریف کنجاہی کے نام سے جانتے ہیں 1915 میں ضلع گجرات کے قصبہ کنجاہ میں پیدا ہوئے، آپ کے والد محترم ایک معلم تھے، آپ نے 1930 میں کنجاہ ہائی سکول سے میٹرک اور 1933 میں گورنمنٹ کالج جہلم سے انٹرمیڈیٹ کا امتحان پاس کیا۔زمانہ طالب علمی سے ہی آپ کو شعر وسخن سے گہرا لگاؤ تھا، آپ نے اپنی شاعری کا آغازانگریز تسلط کے خلاف اپنی انقلابی شاعری سے کیا، اِسی انقلابی شاعری کی وجہ سے انگریز دور میں آپ کو گورنمنٹ جاب کے لئے پولیس کلیرنس سرٹیفکیٹ جاری نہ کیا گیا،
آپ 1943 میں منشی فاضل اور بی ائے کا امتحان پنجاب یونیورسٹی سے بطور پرایؤیٹ طالب علم پاس کرنے کے بعد شعبہ تدریس سے وابستہ ہو گئے اورمختلف مقامات پر اپنی خدمات سر انجام دیتے رہے۔1954 میں آپ نے اردواور1956 میں فارسی کی ڈگری حاصل کی۔1959 میں گورنمنٹ کالج کمپبالپور میں پنجابی زبان کیلیکچرار تعنیات ہوئے اس کے بعدآپکا تبادلہ گورنمنٹ کالج جہلم میں ہوا جہاں آپ اپنی ریٹائرمنٹ تک اپنے فرائض سر انجام دیتے رہے۔1970 میں آپکو پنجاب یونیورسٹی میں نئے شروع کئے جانے والے شعبہ پنجابی کا ممبر بنایا گیا، 1973 سے 1980 تک آپ پنجاب یونیورسٹی میں بحیثیتِ استاد، مصنف، شاعر اور دانش وار خدمات سر انجام دیتے رہے۔شریف کنجاہی صاحب کا شمار جدید پنجابی بانیوں میں ہوتا ہے۔آپ نے اردو، فارسی اور پنجابی زبان میں شاعری کی، قرآن پاک کا پنجابی ترجمعہ کرنے کا شرف بھی شریف کنجاہی صاحب کو حاصل ہے۔ آپکی پہلی پنجابی شاعری کی کتاب ’’جگراتے‘‘ 1958 میں مشرقی پنجاب میں شائع ہوئی یہ کتاب37 نظموں کامجموعہ ہے اس کے بعد ان کی دوسری کتاب ’’ارک ہوندی لُو ‘‘1995میں شائع ہوئی۔آپ کی وفات 20 جنوری 2007 ہوئی۔ اور آپکو کنجاہ کے ایک عظیم شاعر غنیمت کنجاہی کے ساتھ سپر دئے خاک کیا گیا۔ دنیا جہاں جہاں اہل ادب اور پنجابی زبان سے پیار کرنے والے لوگ رہیں گے وہاں ہاں آپکی خدمات ہمیشہ سراہاجاتا رہے گا۔اور آپکا نام رہتی دنیا تک قائم و دائم رہئے گا، میری دعا ہے کہ اللہ سبحان تعالٰی آپکو جنت الفردوس میں اعلٰی مقام عطا فرمائے۔آمین

illiterate people cant even read punjabi. On top of it, in sub-continent reading Quran with translation is an alien thing to do, you know.

It was translated from Shah Abdul Qadar Dehlavi’s Urdu translation of the holy Qur’an. The hand-written versions of this translation are saved in Raza library of Rampur and Idara-e-Adabyat-e-Urdu library of Deccan, Hyderabad, India.[/li][/ul]

Sindhi[edit]

[li]According to Sindhi tradition the first translation was made by in 270/883 by an Arab scholar. This one might be the same as the one mentioned above. The first extant Sindhi translation was done by Akhund Azaz Allah Muttalawi (1160-124011747-1824) and first published in Gujarat in 1870.
