If you understand Punjabi and love comedy…than this is what u need to see.
I always thought Umar Shariff was Paks best comedian…but hes no where close to the likes of Amanullah, Mastana, Sohail Ahmad…
The one big difference between the Karachi plays and the Lahore plays…is that in Karachi ones, theres just one master comedian, and thats usually Umar Shariff…but in the Punjabi Plays you have 3 or 4, and when they start having a go at each other, it gets really funny.
Second big difference is that the stage is set up much better in the Punjabi plays…some even have balconies, depending on the scene.
But its the comedy, where Punjabi shows beat the Urdu ones. Well sometimes they do go vulgar…but its all part of the humor.
i saw some of the urdu once.. i agree with muniya ...no point.. and most of the time they are so horrible.. with the language..and.. culture... ahh.. hate em..
if they are really funny then they should do that in urdu tooo so that non punjabi can enjoy the plays as well.....
there is no competition between urdu and punjabi... its good that they have good punjabi stage plays... butttt does any of those guys ever had a stage show in urdu???? i wanna see em

Agreed, even though its hard to understand their jokes, but those guys are good, I have heard that sometimes they even change or make up their own lines during the play.
I’ve only watched one punjabi stage drama..its kind of old, it had the late Abid Khan in it, called Bashira in Trouble
Overall punjabi stage dramas are okay, but they speak so loud and fast it makes it hard to understand at times, and often gets annoying ,but thats just me.
I hardly watch the stage shows becaz no one else at home watches them , but i must admit I do think they are funny, but sometimes they can go real down and cheap with jokes
Funguy : there's "Mamma Pakistani" with sohail ahmed in it. And I saw it in New York so I m sure its available.
